Helping the hospices
Gary Ward had the pleasure of conducting an onstage interview with Philip Lee, a doctor and scientist who has a cancer diagnosis. The interview was part of a conference by the Food and Nutrition Group, part of the national charity Help the Hospices. It gave an audience of hospice workers, nutritionists, chefs, nurses and others an insight into the importance of food and nutrition in palliative care.

Showcasing how the voluntary sector helps to cut crime
Gary Ward has been working with bassac (the British Association of Settlements and Social Action Centres) to produce a large number of case studies for the Home Office. These show how charities and community groups throughout the country are helping to reduce burglaries, prevent gang crime, cut anti social behviour and support the police and other agencies to make communities safer. The work involved researching and writing each case story to tell the story of how the third sector is making a difference.
